A FRIENDLY BRAND IDENTITY FOR A LIFESTYLE APP
Beemia is a lifestyle app aimed at college students to assist in the many facets that make up an ideal collegiate experience. From housing searches to campus activities and community events, Beemia is the platform for it all. The Beemia team approached me to conceptualize and design their logo and brand identity.
The concept of the logo mark is derived from the combination of a bee’s insect anatomy and the typography of a capitalized “B” letterform. The bee is flying in a horizontal direction, which implies a notion of progress and action, while the contour of the wings stands boldly and forms the capitalized “B” structure. The curvature of the lines married with the sharp and pointed edges relays friendly and pleasant characteristics while also conjuring a sense of purpose and direction. The design of the “B” also subtly invokes the classic style of typography displayed by many American universities, which references Beemia’s collegiate origins.
